Actor and director Mel Gibson was present at the IV Transatlantic Summit of the Political Network for Values in Budapest.
His arrival, at the end of the first day of the meeting, surprised the participants. Gibson was invited by fellow actor and producer Eduardo Verástegui, who presented his film “Sound of Silence” within the Summit program.
At the end of his presentation, Verástegui recieve and standing ovation for more than 5 minutes. Then, he thanked and asked Gibson to enter the room, for to the surprise of all attendees. “This movie has Mel’s brand,” the Mexican actor said.
The Summit was attended by nearly 200 political representatives, legislators and leaders of citizen organizations and academics, from more than 30 countries in America, Africa and Europe, helded this Thursday and Friday, May 26 and 27 at the Hungarian Academy of Sciences.
The movie “Sound of Silence” deals with the sexual exploitation of children, and one of the front lines on which the members of the network work is child protection.
The Summit ended on Friday 27, reaffirming the protection of children as one of the essential aspects of its agenda for the next two years.
